Presenting with data can be complicated.

Too much complexity can quickly overwhelm even the savviest decision maker.
Not enough data leaves the audience questioning the presenter's recommendations and expertise.

But when a presenter gets it just right, data has the power to make their case bullet-proof. The best speakers engage audiences with killer insights, expertly incorporating data to build trust and bolster their arguments.

The Olivine Group teaches speakers best practices for translating data into clear insight and actionable recommendations.

We tailor our workshops to meet your organization's specific business objectives. Some of our partners' common objectives include helping speakers:
-
Understand the neuroscience of decision making, including data's ideal role in that process
-
Story structure
-
Move from analysis to observation to insight
-
Improve their data viz design (charts, color, call-outs) to clearly support their insights
-
Simplify their headline writing to ensure audiences understand the point you are making...not just how to read the chart

Over the past 10 years, companies have hired the Olivine Project to help their employees be more effective communicators, especially when they use data in presentations.

NERD SCHOOL IN ACTION

Client: CEO, Large Advertising Agency

The need: This CEO had observed a lack of storytelling and charisma in their agency's presentations. They reported "information vomit" slides being read verbatim during client meetings as the need for enhancing the agency's presentation skills.

The result: The Olivine Project designed a half-day improv + storytelling training that examined the current state, and walked participants through storytelling and data visualization best practices, including weaving improv exercises throughout the day to help participants find their unique voices and formula for charisma. The CEO was thrilled with the results, and has since hired the Olivine Project to deliver the workshop multiple times a year nationally.
Client: Learning & Development, Large Social Media Company

The need: An L&D lead was tasked with finding a workshop to engage a large team in a dynamic presentation skills training for a cross-functional team with a heavy engineering presence. The team had been struggling to tell stories, tending to lose audiences quickly by going directly "into the weeds" instead of using storytelling best practices.

The result: The Olivine Project designed a full day improv + storytelling training that armed participants with storytelling best practices; the workshop gave participants first-hand experience organizing their information into stories, and in finding their unique voices through improv. The L&D team reported glowing reviews on feedback surveys for the workshop, as well as a noticeable uptick in effective storytelling on the team.
